Leaders ‘decisions and actions are first driven by passion or intuition before they are taken by pure reason or thinking.
In evolution, the mental center is the highest dimension and neocortex the most advanced brain structure related to it. Neocortex demonstrates the exceptional ability to memorize data & experiences.
However we realize managers are increasingly slave of their thoughts instead of directing them. The more managers favor explanation and rationalization to the detriment of observation or listening, they lose touch with concrete reality.
For creativity, the mental center should be at the service of managers, not the opposite. Somehow, an innovative idea does not likely emerge from the mental center because the idea has already been thought previously.
Humans forged decision-making processes and interpersonal reactions over ages of generations, relying first on instinctual then emotional centers prior to using the rational spirit. Neocortex is hence “recent” in the biological evolution and is embryologically originated from the limbic tissue, hence strongly interconnected with primitive brain structures.
So in coaching, I rely on in-built evolutionary adaptations & natural mechanisms for each of us. Leadership is person-specific. Therefore at LEDOUBLECOACH we develop centered leadership, aligning instinctual, emotional & mental reactivity.
I believe this only leadership develops sustainable performance to the benefit of the organization and the benefit of the person.
